![]() Most obviously, both use thermal and kinetic weapons. Now that we have detailed information about the first faction (the Vanguard) and the first secret tech (Promethean) it should be possible to make some assumptions about the compatibility of this combination: But whatever, planetfall isn't trying to be realistic. Plasmoids aren't creatures of living fire, just robots with really good heat shielding, and it doesn't feel right that no matter how much power I pump into a laser cannon I can't damage them-that energy has to go somewhere eventually. Now, I'm not a fan of that mechanic, and almost think damage immunity shouldn't exist in planetfall because of it's incredibly swingy nature-I foresee players cheesing NPC stacks that can't avoid a fight with a unit immune to their only damage channel.Īlso, I just don't feel that immunity makes as much sense in a sci fi game compared to fantasy. In planetfall, losing six laser tanks to a plasmoid is entirely possible, because you can't wear it down with weak melee strikes. ![]() Getting blocked by a unit that is 100% resistant to your main damage channel is actually a bigger problem than in AOW3, where (almost) every unit had a melee attack that did some physical damage and nothing innately was immune to physical damage, so you always had a chance. ![]() ![]() I expect there's going to be someone mathing out at what point you want to start adding health instead of armour once we get our hands on the game. ![]() The thing to consider about defensive mods is that some grant health, where every point of health becomes more valuable the higher your defences are because of percentage damage reduction. ![]()
